Operations Manager

Position Title: Operations Manager
Position Type: Full-time Role 
Location: New York City (Remote until Fall 2021, when the Basta team will return to in-person work in our NYC office) 
Compensation: $60K - $75K 

ABOUT THE ROLE

As BASTA's Operations Manager, you will manage key projects and work streams that enable BASTA's work. Your work will straddle internal and programmatic operations, so you’ll have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of stakeholders from your teammates to program participants, to partners and external vendors. You will thrive in this role if you both love working with people and developing systems, tools, and processes that make their experiences better.

Your work will include: 

  • Program Operations: You’ll develop and manage systems that ensure smooth operations across all aspects of our programs, including overseeing student communication and materials, liaising with external facilitators, and coordinating feedback surveys. 

  • Internal Operations: You will lead the development of Basta’s knowledge management system and other tools to help teammates collaborate effectively, like the organizational master calendar. 

  • Fellow Recruitment and Selection: You’ll lead recruitment and selection for the Basta fellowship, developing strategies and partnerships that will help us meet ambitious goals (doubling the size of the fellowship across two years). 

  • Alumni Leadership Program Management: Basta alumni actively contribute to our work through a number of paid leadership roles, including serving as resume coaches for current fellows and Powered by Basta participants. As the Operations Manager, you will oversee these programs, ensuring our alumni leaders have the training, support and structures they need.  

  • Project Management: You’ll put your project management skills to work across an array of workstreams, jumping in to lead cross-team collaborations around new partnerships and ad hoc projects.

On a typical day, you might: 

  • Meet with a Program Manager to plan for an upcoming kick-off meeting with a new college partner partner.

  • Work with the Head of Programs and Head of Career Success to update the 2022 workshop calendar. 

  • Conduct an onboarding training with a new BASTA staff member, introducing them to our organizational and knowledge management systems

  • Join a virtual workshop for Powered by Basta to provide technical support to the facilitator 

  • Research best practices for creating text-based “nudges” to drive student behavior

  • You take complete ownership over your work, but you’re not afraid to ask for help when you need it. You’re also willing to jump in wherever you’re needed.  

  • You’re comfortable working in a virtual environment using virtual communication/collaboration tools, including Google docs, Zoom, and Slack 

  • You are based in or near New York City and able to attend in-person sessions, including some weekend and evening work.
